Just named Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic effective September 15, 2014, Anthony McGill served as Principal Clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for the past decade and has been recognized as one of the classical music world’s finest solo, chamber and orchestral musicians.
 
He has appeared as soloist with many orchestras including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra and the New York String Orchestra, all at Carnegie Hall. Other recent performances have been with the Baltimore Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Memphis Symphony, Orchestra 2001 and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.
 
As a chamber musician McGill has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia with such quartets as the Guarneri, Tokyo, Brentano, Pacifica, Shanghai, Miro and Daedalus, with Musicians from Marlboro and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and on such series as the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and the University of Chicago Presents.
